Following the awarding as a Special Protection Area for Little
People by the EU last year, this hugely popular event was relaunched
and the public are invited to hunt for ceramic leprechauns on Carlingford
Mountain alongside this SPA. To join the hunt, prospecting licences
can be bought on the day at €5 each and there are cash prizes
on all leprechauns found.
The public are asked to refrain form attempting to capture any
Real Leprechauns. Great family event.
Proceeds go to Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children and Local
Charities.

A Taste of Carlingford
7, 8, & 9th of May, 2011
A two day celebration of fine food and drink, set in the idyllic
Medieval village of Carlingford, all of the local restaurants, bars
and cafes will provide visitors, a taste of the wonderful cuisine
which Carlingford has on offer, in a veritable marketplace of little
tents and stalls. Artisan food suppliers will provide further treats
and colour. Visit the hospitality tent which will feature such local
delicacies like the famous Carlingford Oyster, washed down with
a glass of Champagne, taste local strawberries and cream. Mmm..
delicious. This will be an unparalled experience for thousands of
visitors. Dont miss this opportunity to indulge yourself. Lots of

The Táin March
Fri. 17th June - Sat. 25th June 2011
Based on our national epic An Táin, this event will recreate
the footsteps of Queen Méabh, her army adn their march from
Roscommon to the Cooley Peninsula to capture the Brown Bull of Cooley.
A uniformed army of celtic warriors will march by chariot, horseback
and foot through the region over 7 days and overnight in designated
sites along the route. National charities (Oxfam, ISPCC, Irish Cancer
Society) will form the army adn become Méabhs warriors. Locals
are invited to march with the army as they pass through the various
towns and villages.

Carlingford Oyster Festival
13th & 14th August, 2011
Carlingford's famous Oyster Festival began in the early 80's to
showcase the now famous Carlingford Oyster. This festival was held
every year until the late 90's, it was revived again and is now
a great family day out, it is now in its 5th year, still celebrating
the oyster. Two days of oysters galore, oyster treasure hunt, world
crab fishing competition, street entertainment, wine reception,
food markets. Carlingford Lough comes alive with our annual regatta
and not forgetting our Chowder tasting, sponsored by all local restaurants.
Dont miss the annual oyster opening competition, watch this great
event, where all the local chefs compete for the coveted title.
Not to be missed "The Teddy Bear's picnic", where you
can meet Minnie & Mickey Mouse and of course not forgetting
Pooh Bear. This event provides great entertainment for children.

Taaffes Castle Medieval Challenge
Sun. 21st - Sun. 28th August 2011
Living History event as a family of 7 will live for a week, exactly
as they did 800 years ago!
They will live and sleep under cowskins in Taaffes Castle which
has been uninhabited since the medieval period. Daily tasks include:
lighting the fire for cooking, foraging for food, tending to the
animals, milking the family goat and fishing in Carlingford Lough
for supper!
To the fore of the castle, there will be a bustling diminitive
medieval village created where crafts adn business from the medieval
period can be experienced.

what you think you could take to the experience.

Come and meet Santa Claus in Carlingford, from 2 - 5pm with little
surprises for all children. Enjoy hot chocolate, mulled wine. Local
schools choirs will perform your favourite Christmas carol. See
a famous face turn on the Christmas lights, a great day out for
all the family.
McKevitts resident band " Tea & Coffee " play
every Monday night through out the year and is very popular with
visiters and locals alike.
During the
winter months McKevitts Hotel run a quiz every Wednesday night which
is good crack and open to all.
